Hello!! My name is Mary Williams and I am going on the World Race!!! WOO HOO! I am launching January 2021 on an Expedition Route. Here is a little to get to know me!
I am 21 years old and from the best state in the country (Texas, obviously). I grew up in Houston, TX with my Mom, Dad, younger sister, and our two dogs. My current home is in Waco, where I attend school at Baylor University. I am set to graduate in August, 2020 with a degree in Recreation Ministry. Hoping to pursue a career in outdoor ministry after WR!
If you know me, you know that I love adventure, trying new things and seeing amazing parts of creation. LOVE the National Parks- some of my favorites are Zion/Arches, Grand Canyon and the Appalachians. Being active is a huge part of who I am. I have been running distance since junior high and I enjoy running in new places (excited to run in some pretty cool places on the WR)! I also enjoy adventure sports like backpacking, climbing, paddling, and mountain biking!
The first time I heard about the World Race was during my freshman year of college when one of my camp friends announced her commitment to go. I was just beginning my time at Baylor and at first had no idea that this was God’s plan for me. But after hearing about the WR, I could not get it out of my mind. Through different seasons, a small tug on my heart persisted and grew into what I now know is a powerful calling from God telling me to go. It is unbelievable to look back and realize how God was orchestrating events in my life to bring me to this point! Now it is really happening and I can say with complete and total certainty that is where I’m meant to be!
